Athletes Foot Cures - An OverviewAthletes foot is a common fungal infection between the toes in which the skin becomes itchy and sore, cracking and peeling away. Athletes foot is also called as tinea pedis or foot ring worm. This condition can be treated easily, but difficult to clear up completely. Tight shoes, synthetic socks, sweaty feet and not drying the feet well after swimming are the predisposing factors for athletes foot. There are so many products available in the market which cures the athletes foot. The products are in cream, ointment, lotion, gel, powder, spray powder. Aerospl liquid, solution, foam or soap treats athletes foot either by inhibiting the fungal growth and reproduction or killing the etiological agent. The common ingredients used in the treatment of athletes foot are Chlorphenesin, clioquinol, Haloprogin, Povidone-Iodine, Tolnafate, undecylenic acid, calcium undecylenate, copper undecylenate and Zinc undecylenate. On understanding the cause and conditions that promote athletes foot, it clearly indicates that adopting certain measures can prevent the condition. The feet should be kept clean always. Development of soreness or cracking in the feet should be attended immediately by brushing the feet and toes after a shower. The feet should be dried at least 10 minutes before wearing shoes. The feet may also be dried using hair drier immediately after shower. Antifungal powder may be dusted in the feet before putting the socks. Dry cotton socks are preferred than the synthetic ones. The shoes may be dusted inside before wearing. It is advisable to have 2 sets of shoes for alternating them.
