Simple Bronchitis Home Remedy

Bronchitis is characterized by the inflammation of the bronchi of the lungs. Due to this inflammation, discharge of mucopurulent material – phlegm is produced. The two types of bronchitis namely Acute and chronic may occurred in different individuals due to different reasons. Acute bronchitis is mainly caused by the common cold virus, which is followed by bacteria whereas the chronic one is mainly due to cigarette smoking and prolonged exposure to lung irritants such as dust and grains. Weather and environmental changes accelerate the infection. Different home remedies are used in the individuals at the initial stage of the infection. The most important one used as a home remedy is a Turmeric powder. The half a teaspoon full of turmeric powder in a half cup of milk proved to be useful, when it is taken at least three times a day after meal.

There are so many home remedies used in different areas. Ginger is also an effective remedy used in home for the control of bronchitis. Ginger, cloves and pepper may be mixed as a powder and half a teaspoon full is mixed in honey and used as medicine lick. This helps the patient to reduce their pyrexia of bronchitis origin. A poultice prepared out of linseed is very useful by applying over the front and back of chest. The poultice is prepared by mixing sixteen teaspoon full of linseed in hot water to convert them into moist mealy mass. An emulsion also being prepared in the home kitchen by mixing seven kernels of almonds in a cup of orange or lemon juice. This emulsion may be taken once daily at night. An effective expectorant is prepared by mixing fifty grams of fresh leaves of spinach, and 250 ml of water. This expectorant is mixed with a pinch of ammonium chloride and one teaspoonful of honey. This mixture should be taken twice daily for 3 days.
